What got you into radio?
I originally wanted to be a High School counselor. I got a D in psychology (hope my kids don't read this) so I decided to try something else! While in college I found myself on the speech and debate team. I discovered I liked working with my voice. I've always loved music. Hummm...what could I do with voice and music? DJ! I changed my major and here I am.
What's the last thing you spent $100 on?
A CPR class. I finally got certified, wish I would have done it a long time ago.
Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I was a Mexican Ballet Folklorico dancer for 20 years. I almost ran off to dance with one of the best groups in Mexico. It was my senior year of college and I decided to finish up my degree instead. Now my son and daughter dance. Get this...their instructor was a dancer in the group I wanted to run off with!!!! He now lives in the Bay Area and has his school here. Talk about a small world!
Can you do a cartwheel?
Yes I can, the splits too! For now anyway, ask me again next year.
Favorite sentimental quote.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift...that's why it's called the present.
Secret guaranteed weeping movie.
I'm a huge Barbara Streisand fan. I've got to go with Funny Girl and The Way We Were.
What do you consider a vacation?
Staying in bed all day on a Sunday with the newspaper, my favorite books and videos. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served on a tray with a rose and champagne. Disneyland ALWAYS works too!
Where were you born?
Castro Valley, CA
What do you cook best?
Mexican food. All of my dear mom's recipes.
Steven Quincy Urkel — Jaleel White
After spending nearly a decade scientifically pestering his way into Laura Winslow's and our collective hearts, Jaleel White encountered the typical struggles of many child stars. White has struggled to break free of his iconic role, playing tiny parts in random TV shows such as House, Psych, and NCIS over the years. Most recently he was seen on Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars, lasting until Week 7.
Laura Lee Winslow — Kellie Shanygne Williams
Since the finale, Kellie Shanygne Williams has stayed busy in the entertainment industry with small guest roles in TV shows, but she seems to have put most of her focus on her family life.
Carl Otis Winslow — Reginald VelJohnson
In addition to starring in Family Matters, he's played a man with a badge in Ghostbusters, Plain Clothes, Die Hard, Turner and Hooch, and Die Hard 2. He can currently be seen on the CW show Hart of Dixie.
Harriette Winslow — JoMarie Payton
Payton left the show before its final season and has found consistent work as side characters in TV shows since then, including a multiple-episodes on Will and Grace as well as the voice of Suga Mama on The Proud Family.
Edward James Arthur Winslow — Darius McCrary
Since Family Matters, McCrary has recently starred in The Young and the Restless as well as provided the voice of Jazz in Transformers.
Maxine Johnson — Cherie Johnson
The former Punky Brewster star hasn't done much television since Family Matters, but she has appeared in a bunch of lesser-known films in the years since. She also has written multiple novels.
