It all happened one afternoon, on a Dunkin’ Donuts parking lot, when a Good Samaritan committed a selfless act designed to cheer up an unsuspecting individual. Samantha Ford, a Boston mother of two, returned to her car to find that someone had left $40 and a note on her windshield.

The note read, “I noticed the sticker on the back of your car,” which read, ‘Half my Heart is in Afghanistan,’ and after seeing that I was inspired. The do-gooder continued, “Take your hero out to dinner when he comes home. Thank you both for serving.”

There wasn’t a personal signature on the note. It simply read, “United States veteran” and “God Bless.”
