Ne-Yo and the show’s producers are in the early stages of negotiating a deal that would bring him onboard, replacing L.A. Reid. The Singer-Actor-Writer-Producer says:
"I don't want anybody to put too much stock in that. It honestly and truly may not happen," he said. "It's just conversation right now, and everybody knows that in L.A., until the ink is dry on the contract, nothing is for certain."
