According to a new study, being fat actually helps you live longer. Researchers found that overweight people – those with a body mass index of 25 to 30 – had a lower risk of dying than people of normal weight.

Amazingly, scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed the records of more than 2.8 million people before coming to their conclusions.

While the study is good news for people struggling to get skinny, it’s important not to go too far: Obese people–who have a body mass index of 35 or more – still have a much higher risk of death.

How much do you think about–or worry about–your weight each day?
