A Bay Area couple say they sent $5,900 to a man they met on Craigslist in exchange for four seats to Super Bowl XLVII. But when their FedEx package arrived, there were no tickets inside, only a taunting message that said, "Enjoy the game! Go Ravens!"
In a satisfying twist, the couple will still go to the game, thanks to separate ticket donations from the 49ers and Ticketmaster CEO Nathan Hubbard.
Sharon Osgood told the San Jose Mercury News that she and her boyfriend contacted a man selling tickets on Craigslist last week. They spoke to him for days, believed him to be an investment banker whose wife was eight months pregnant and wired him $5,900 for four seats. Their plan was to drive to the game in an RV with some family members.
On Monday, the 49ers season-ticket holders received a FedEx package with "Go Ravens" written all over and a flyer inside that featured pictures of Colin Kaepernick and Ray Lewis. The taunting note was written underneath. It was punctuated with an "LOL."
